1. What Is Our Service?
Rovian is a social platform where you match with players from all over the world and play chess with your camera and microphone on. Here it''s not about mastery — it''s about fun and good conversation. The service includes features such as random/balanced matchmaking, video-and-audio chat, rating, game history, spectator mode and optional AI opponents. We may change, add or remove these features from time to time.
2. Age Requirement (18+ for everyone)
To register for Rovian or to enter as a guest you must be at least 18 years old; the platform is for ages 18 and over only. Anyone under 18 may not use the platform. By creating an account or entering as a guest, you declare that you meet this age requirement. If we determine you don''t meet the age requirement, we will close the account.
3. Your Account and Responsibility
Security starts with you:
- It''s your responsibility to enter your information correctly and keep your login credentials private.
- You are responsible for every move, message and action taken from your account.
- Creating multiple accounts to manipulate the system, evading a banned account, or using someone else''s account without permission is prohibited.
- If you notice unauthorized access to your account, you must let us know promptly.
4. Acceptable Use (Our Red Lines)
Rovian is a safe space where everyone can comfortably turn on their camera. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and, depending on severity, will result in a warning, suspension or permanent closure of your account:
- Threats, bullying, harassment, persistent unwanted contact or hate speech.
- Obscene or sexual behavior and indecent exposure.
- Any violation involving minors and child sexual abuse material — we maintain zero tolerance and make the legally required reports.
- Cheating with a chess engine, AI or any outside assistance.
- Spam, fraud, advertising, phishing or illegal activities.
- Harvesting or leaking personal data, or recording and distributing others'' video or audio without consent.
- Technical interference: automation/bots, scraping, reverse engineering, overloading the service or circumventing security measures.
5. Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Users
Rovian has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We use automated filters and human moderation for profiles, messages and in-game communication. Every user can flag content or a player with the Report tool and can use Block to remove that person''s video, audio and content from their experience immediately. Blocking also sends a safety signal to our moderation team and prevents the two users from being matched again.
We review reports within 24 hours. When a violation is confirmed, we remove the objectionable content and warn, suspend or permanently eject the user who provided it. For urgent child-safety, sexual-content or threat reports, we may terminate the session immediately and make any legally required report.
6. Camera, Audio and Video-Chat Responsibility
Your video and voice chats stream live either directly (P2P) or through secure relay infrastructure and are not recorded by us in normal operation. The only path to a recording is your explicit consent: the “allow my matches to be recorded” preference in Settings → Privacy is off by default, and only when BOTH players turn it on can viewers capture short video clips (clips are deleted after 30 days, and turning the preference off deletes existing clips too). See the Privacy Policy for details. Camera and microphone delivery to spectators in public matches is on by default: once your match starts, your stream goes live to signed-in spectators who completed the 18+ check. You can turn it off at any time from the “Stream” panel on the game screen, and you can switch it off for good with the “hide from spectators” preference in Settings → Privacy. Guest (unregistered) matches, private/friend matches and under-18 matches are never broadcast. In return for that freedom, you are entirely responsible for the video and audio you share on camera and for your communication with the other side. Remember you may be matched with strangers; keep your common sense and don''t share personal information. If something makes you uncomfortable, you can always skip, block and report.
7. Intellectual Property
The Rovian brand, logo, interface, design, code and content belong to us (or our licensors) and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You have the right to use the service only within these terms, for personal, non-commercial purposes. Content you upload (e.g. profile photo, display name) is your responsibility; by uploading it you grant us permission to process it in order to provide the service. Third-party components (e.g. AR lenses) are subject to their own providers'' terms.
8. Suspension and Termination
Breaking the rules is like deliberately throwing your king into the fire. Depending on severity, we may warn, restrict features, suspend, or — in serious cases, without prior notice — permanently close any account that disturbs the peace of the Rovian community or breaches these terms. You may also end this agreement at any time by requesting deletion of your account.
9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Our service is provided "as is" and "as available"; we can''t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It''s your move: Rovian cannot be held responsible for damages arising from personal communication, video/audio interaction or the conduct of other users. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages. This does not affect rights that cannot be limited by law.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Disputes between us are subject to the competent courts and enforcement offices in Türkiye. This clause does not remove any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your own country.
11. Changes to the Terms
As the game evolves, we may need to update these terms. If we make a significant change, we''ll try to notify you in a reasonable way (e.g. a notice on the site) ahead of time. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms.
