1. Age Limit & Child Safety (18+)
Rovian is for ages 18 and over only; both membership and guest access are 18+. During registration or sign-in we collect an 18+ self-declaration and acceptance of the current terms, and do not allow anyone below the age limit to take a seat here. If you ever face someone who is clearly a young child, or anything that makes you uncomfortable, don't hesitate — report it right away with the “Child Safety” option and move on. We have zero tolerance on this.
2. You're in Control: Report and Block
Did something at the table bother you? You don’t have to put up with it out of politeness. The game screen has two controls for this:
- Block: The moment you block someone, a wall goes up. You'll never be matched with that person again (it works both ways). They're gone from your table for good.
- Report: Did you see harassment, obscenity, hate speech or a child-safety violation? Don't hold back — report it to us. Our team reviews these reports and takes action against toxic players.
3. Camera and Audio Privacy
- Live and Ephemeral: Depending on the connection, video and audio stream directly (P2P) or through secure relay infrastructure; the normal live flow is not recorded or stored.
- Spectator Control Is Separate: Camera and microphone are on for spectators by default in public matches between registered adults; you can turn this off from the game’s “Stream” panel or hide every match under Settings → Privacy. Guest, private and under-18 matches are never broadcast, and your opponent cannot change your setting for you.
- You're in Charge: You can withdraw permission with one tap. Limited evidence may be retained for moderation only when you submit a safety report.
4. Only the Data We Need
We respect your privacy. We only keep the most basic data needed for you to take a seat at the table (email, username, match history).
Safe-Play Tactics for the Table
- Don't share your address, phone number or financial details with anyone. We're playing chess here, not signing over property deeds!
- The moment you feel uncomfortable, hit "Skip" or "Block." There's no need to be polite.
- Report anything suspicious to us. Keeping this community clean is something we do together.
Frequently asked questions
Are my conversations recorded?
Normal calls are not automatically recorded. User-triggered moderation evidence and clip features requiring explicit consent are exceptions. Match clips require both players to enable recording consent. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What should I do if I come across a minor?
Report them immediately by selecting the Child Safety category, then block them. These reports go straight to our moderation team with a red alert and are reviewed as a priority.
Could I accidentally match with someone I've blocked?
No. Our block wall works both ways. You'll never see that person again.
How do you verify my age?
We collect an 18+ self-declaration and acceptance of the current terms during registration or sign-in. We may apply additional age-verification steps when we receive suspicious or abuse signals.
