There's something new on Rovian: you can now show your real chess title on your profile. Do you hold a FIDE title, or are you a chess coach or teacher? Let your badge shine next to your name so opponents can see who they're playing at a glance.
The good news: this badge can't be faked. Every application is reviewed and approved by our team by hand — so if you see a badge, that person genuinely earned it.
Which titles are available?
We grant two kinds of badges:
♟️ FIDE titles (red badge): GM (Grandmaster), IM (International Master), FM (FIDE Master), CM (Candidate Master), NM (National Master), and women's titles (WGM, WIM, WFM, WCM).
🎓 Roles (gold badge): Chess Coach, Chess Teacher and Chess Arbiter — for those who teach and give back to the community.
How to apply (3 steps)
1️⃣ Sign in and go to the Settings page. (Guest accounts can't apply — create a free account first.)
2️⃣ Find the “Title application” section and pick the title you've earned.
3️⃣ Write a short proof note: a link to your FIDE profile, your ID number, or your coaching/teaching details. This speeds up our review.
Submit — we'll take it from there. Once our team reviews and approves it, your badge appears automatically on your profile and in the game screen.
Why a badge system?
Because Rovian is a face-to-face chess table. Knowing whether your opponent is a master or a teacher makes the game — and the conversation — more meaningful. Badges build trust, show clearly who's who, and make our community richer.
Got a title? Show it. Settings → Title application, it only takes a few minutes.
