Basics: the first moves of the Scandinavian
Strike e4 at once with d5 and recapture with the queen. When the knight on c3 hits it, the queen goes to a5, where it is safe and presses on c3.

If White plays d4 and brings the knight to f3 (Main Line)
Always the same order: knight to f6, c6, bishop to f5, then e6. The c6 pawn guards b5 and d5, so White's knight can't jump there to trap your queen.

If White's eighth move is queen e2, knight d5 or castling
Finish your setup: bishop b4, knight d7 and castle. If the knight jumps to d5, the queen goes back to d8; if it takes on f6, recapture with the queen.

If White plays the knight to f3 or the bishop to c4 before d4
With the knight on f3, use the usual setup: knight f6, c6, bishop f5, e6. If the bishop comes to c4 before the knight reaches f3, play bishop f5 first; if the other bishop then comes to d2, the queen goes to b6.

If White doesn't play the knight to c3 on move three
Your queen on d5 isn't attacked. Against the knight on f3: bishop g4, knight c6 and queenside castling; against d4: knight f6. If the knight comes to c3, queen to a5: the main line.

If White doesn't take on d5 on move two
Against the knight on c3, gain space with d4 and build the center with e5. Against e5, bishop to f5, then e6 and c5: a closed pawn chain, but your bishop is outside.
